Jenner & Block Partner Reid J. Schar is the subject of a lengthy profile in the Northwestern Law Reporter, the alumni magazine of Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. A 1997 graduate of the school, Mr. Schar discusses his passion for following the facts in pursuit of the truth. The profile highlights his successful career as an assistant US attorney for 13 years, during which he prosecuted former Governor Rod Blagojevich on corruption charges. The profile also discusses his move to Jenner & Block in 2012. At the time, he was looking for new challenges. “I began to look around for an opportunity that provided that challenge, and Jenner & Block was a firm that had been able to take people out of the US Attorney’s Office and turn them into successful civil litigation lawyers,” he says. The firm’s commitment to pro bono -- giving a voice to those “who might not have a voice” -- also appealed to him. As co-chair of the White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice, Mr. Schar applies his experience as an investigator to the complex cases he manages. The challenging work often involves Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies and even foreign governments. Mr. Schar also gives back to the legal community by mentoring younger lawyers, writing articles and participating in seminars and debates.
