Jenner & Block Partner Terri L. Mascherin videotaped a presentation that was shown during a historic symposium titled “Women Lawyers in the Courtroom” on April 21, 2016.  Sponsored by the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Bar Association, in conjunction with the Black Women Lawyers’ Association and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, the symposium addressed strategies and best practices to empower women as lead counsel and trial counsel in litigation. Ms. Mascherin’s comments related to how to be a good trial lawyer.  Other topics explored during the half-day-long conference included the benefits of female trial counsel, women lawyers on trial teams and a view from the bench.

More than 450 lawyers participated in the symposium at the Dirksen Federal Courthouse in Chicago and others joined via livestream at the Stanley J. Roszkowski United States Courthouse in Rockford, Illinois.

Ms. Mascherin is a partner in the firm's Litigation Department, co-chair of the Professional Responsibility Practice, and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation and International Arbitration Practices.  Businesses turn to her for help with disputes over corporate transactions, partnerships, joint ventures, licenses, and contracts, and law firms hire her to represent them in high stakes professional responsibility disputes. She is a first chair trial attorney who is effective in both jury and bench trials and in representing clients in arbitrations and arguing appeals in state and federal appellate courts throughout the United States.
