Five Jenner & Block Partners Receive Inaugural Associates Committee Mentorship Awards

Jenner & Block Partners Jerry J. Burgdoerfer, Julie M. Carpenter, Lisa T. Scruggs, Howard S. Suskin and Patrick J. Trostle were the winners of the inaugural Associates Committee Mentorship Awards that were presented at a Firm event on October 1, 2010.

In introducing the award, Associate Lindsay C. Harrison, Co-Chair of the Associates Committee, explained that it was created by the Committee to recognize outstanding mentors in the Firm.  “Originally, more than 30 partners were nominated to receive this award,” Ms. Harrison stated.  “It was very difficult for the Committee to pare down the number from the list of very deserving nominees.”

Presenting the awards with Ms. Harrison were Associates Committee Co-Chair John R. Schleppenbach and Associates Committee member Mark A. Lightner.

Mr. Burgdoerfer is a partner in Jenner & Block’s Chicago office, a member of its Corporate Department, and Co-Chair of its Securities Practice.  He is also Chair of the Firm's Auditor Letter Review Committee, and has served on the Firm’s Management Committee.

Ms. Carpenter is a partner in Washington, D.C., in the Firm's Litigation Department, and is a member of the Government Contracts and Media and First Amendment Practices.  In addition, Ms. Carpenter serves as Co-Chair of the Firm's Pro Bono Committee and its Positive Work Environment Committee.  She is also a long-time member of the Associate Evaluation Committee.

Ms. Scruggs is a Chicago-based partner in the Firm's Litigation Department and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation, Real Estate and Construction Litigation, and Health Care Litigation Practices.  She also serves on the Firm’s Finance, Hiring, and Diversity Committees.

Mr. Suskin is a partner in Chicago, in the Firm's Litigation Department.  He is Co-Chair of its Class Action Practice, a member of the Securities Litigation and International Arbitration Practices and a member of the Subprime Litigation and Tenant-in-Common Workout Task Forces.  He also serves on the Firm’s Associate Evaluation and Diversity Committees and is a past member of the Firm’s Management Committee. 

Mr. Trostle is a New York-based partner in the Firm's Bankruptcy, Workout and Corporate Reorganization and Bankruptcy Litigation Practices and a member of the Tenant-In-Common Workout and Real Estate Finance Litigation and Workout Task Forces.
