Savner Honored With 2010 Alumni Merit Award From Northwestern University

Jenner & Block Partner David A. Savner was recently selected to receive Northwestern University's 2010 Alumni Merit Award and was honored on October 8, 2010 at a dinner and ceremony at the Union League Club of Chicago.  The award has been given annually, since 1932, to alumni who "have distinguished themselves in their particular professions or fields of endeavor in such a way as to reflect credit" on the university.  Each school of the university selects an award recipient; Mr. Savner, who earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Northwestern, is receiving the award from the School of Law.

In its biography of Mr. Savner, the university highlighted his key role at General Dynamics as the defense contractor "transformed from a $4 billion enterprise to a $31 billion industry leader" and his recent return to Jenner & Block.  The university also mentioned that Mr. Savner was a cum laude graduate of the College of Arts & Sciences and a magna cum laude graduate of the Law School, where he was a staff member of the Northwestern University Law Review.

Past recipients of this notable award include the Jenner & Block’s Chairman Anton R. Valukas, as well as such well-respected members of the judiciary as retired Chief Judge of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals Joel Flaum, Judge Marvin Aspen of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the late Illinois Supreme Court Justice Seymour Simon.
