Jenner & Block Partner Michael W. Ross is quoted in a Bloomberg article about how lawyers are “stepping up” to help tens of thousands of unaccompanied immigrant children fleeing violence in Central America.  Titled “Immigrant Children Get Pro Bono Assist: Business of Law,”  the article explains that the Central American children can seek asylum or Special Immigrant Juvenile (SIJ) status.  Seeking such status requires involvement of state family courts and the federal immigration system, and, as the article notes, the “stakes can be high.”  Michael observes that “these cases are technical, and removal cases in particular are scary for everyone.”
