Jenner & Block LLP is pleased to share that Kenneth K. Lee has been named one of the Daily Journal’s Top 20 Lawyers Under 40 – a list of California’s “emerging legal leaders,” according to the publication. The 20 lawyers who made the list this year were selected from lawyers across the state working in private practice, corporate legal departments, public agencies and nonprofits.
A profile of Ken that was published on January 29, 2014, focused on his successes defending class action lawsuits in the food industry. It specifically discussed one case in which he represented a California-based soy yogurt company that was sued for describing a sweetener ingredient derived from sugar cane as “evaporated cane juice.” The plaintiffs based their suit on Food and Drug Administration’s draft guidance recommending that the term “evaporated cane juice” not be used for that type of sweetener. Ken was able to convince the judge to dismiss the case, and the decision received a great deal of media attention.
The article also noted that, in another case, Ken helped defeat class certification of plaintiffs who were challenging the labeling of a variety of Kraft snacks.
