On October 24, 2013, Associate Ali M. Arain was honored with a joint recognition by the Office of the Mayor of New York City, the New York County Lawyers’ Association, the New York State Bar Association and the New York State Courts Access to Justice Program as an attorney who has made outstanding contributions of pro bono service.
Specifically, Ali was recognized for his efforts working with the Queens Volunteer Lawyers Project of the Queens County Bar Association to assist victims of Superstorm Sandy. He was a member of a firm team that represented clients in several matters stemming from the hurricane, including direct representation in FEMA disaster relief application denials; providing legal advice to the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Clinic; and providing staff support to the New York Disaster Preparedness Commission.
While the intention of the recognition was to spotlight individual attorneys, Ali accepted the award on behalf of the entire New York office team, which included Partners Brian J. Fischer and Richard F. Ziegler and Associates Tobias C. Berkman, Lindsay W. Bowen, Anne M. Choike, David E. Hutchinson, Michael W. Ross and Jacob Tracer.
