Team Presents Brief Regarding Supreme Court's Campaign Finance Jurisprudence

Jenner & Block Partner Jessica Ring Amunson, joined by Associate Neal R. Ubriani and Summer Associates Hannah Garden-Monheit and Casey Raymond, recently presented a briefing to the United States House of Representatives Task Force on Election Reform regarding the Supreme Court’s campaign finance jurisprudence.  The team, led by Partner Paul M. Smith, also recently submitted an amicus curiae brief to the Supreme Court on behalf of 85 Democratic Members of Congress in McCutcheon v. FEC, which will be heard by the Supreme Court this fall.  The brief argues that the Court should uphold aggregate campaign contribution limits and continue to defer to Congress on the need for such limits, which play a critical role in preventing corruption and the appearance of corruption in politics.
