Jenner & Block Partner Keri Holleb Hotaling has been named a 2014 Fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago (LGC), a nonprofit organization that nurtures an aspiring generation of leaders for the Chicago area.
Each year, LGC competitively selects 35 of the city’s most “high-potential” young individuals who have shown a commitment to the welfare of the community and have important leadership qualities.
The program’s goal is to foster a lifelong commitment to civic engagement among its diverse Fellows, who represent business, civic, nonprofit and government sectors. With the first Fellows class nominated in 1984, the program to date counts more than 900 alumni, including Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez; Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan; and Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor and assistant to President Obama.
As a Fellow, Keri will participate in an intensive 10-month program comprising retreats, seminars, service projects, discussion groups and community tours. Fellows study complex urban issues, including education, race, health care and housing, and come face-to-face with decision-makers who are working to solve them. Following the program, Fellows remain active with LGC through extensive educational programming, networking events and exclusive opportunities to meet local and national leaders.
Keri is a litigator who focuses on environmental matters. In addition to her environmental work, she counsels clients on complex commercial disputes, including contractual and business tort disputes and internal investigations. In 2010, Keri was recognized as a Law360 “Rising Legal Star,” named as “one of 10 environmental lawyers nationwide under the age of 40 to watch.” The Law360 profile highlighted her environmental and litigation experience and noted that she “gets the call when the stakes are high." Illinois Super Lawyers also recognized her as a “Rising Star” in environmental litigation in 2012 and 2013. Keri serves on the firm’s Hiring and Hiring Executive Committee, Pro Bono Committee, and Women’s Forum Steering Committee and chairs the firm’s Domestic Violence Pro Bono Program.
