Jenner & Block Partner Erin R. Schrantz has been named a “Chicago 40 Under 40” by The National Law Journal. Erin is profiled in a July 1 special report.
In announcing its “40 Under 40,” The National Law Journal editors noted that they asked readers to nominate “up-and-comers,” and that they “snooped around on our own to compile this list of achievers in Chicago’s law firms, corporate law departments and the legal academy.” The future of the legal profession in Chicago, the editors commented, “is in very good hands.”
Erin was chosen for her work in complex commercial litigation and white collar defense and investigations. Her representation of the Adelphia Communications Corp. recovery trust is highlighted, along with her work to help CRC Insurance Services Inc. reach a settlement in a non-compete dispute in 2012, involving more than 100 workers who were recruited by a competitor. Partner Barbara S. Steiner told The National Law Journal that Erin “can handle anything” and that she is “well respected at the firm.”
The profile also focuses on her appearances before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, in particular noting her work on behalf of pro bono client Henry Johnson, whose life sentence was reduced to 30 years after two appeals in that court.
Finally, the feature references Erin’s role as co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Forum and observes that her commitment also extends to the community, where she serves as an Investor and Outreach Committee member for Women Employed, an organization that advocates on behalf of low-wage working women.
