Jenner & Block Partner Jeffrey D. Colman, together with Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Thomas L. Kilbride, will receive the Illinois Legal Aid Online’s Early Adopter Award.  Illinois Legal Aid Online is one of the nation’s pre-eminent providers of Internet-based legal information to legal aid lawyers, pro bono providers and indigent persons seeking pro bono legal assistance.  This is the third year that Legal Aid Online has presented the award, which recognizes individuals who innovate in their field, embrace change and influence societal transformation.

Jeff is being honored for his work as chairman of the Illinois Supreme Court’s Commission on Access to Justice, an 11-person commission charged with making recommendations to the Supreme Court to improve access to justice for all state residents, but particularly for the poor and vulnerable.  The Commission was formed in June 2012.  In the first nine months of its existence, more than 200 lawyers, judges and clerks from across the State have volunteered to assist the Commission on its many ongoing initiatives.  At Jenner & Block, the Commission on Access to Justice is assisted by Carla Rozycki, Gail Morse, Anne Ray, Jason Bradford, Angela Allen, Laura Bishop, Christopher Karacic, Caroline Lindsey, Abraham Salander and Kristine Stassen.

Jeff and Chief Justice Kilbride will receive the award at the group’s April 25 fundraising gala.  Darryl Bradford, a former partner at the firm and now general counsel of Exelon Corporation, is the chair of the dinner committee.
