Firm Team Achieves About $21 Million in Settlements in O'Hare Litigation

As recently reported in the media, the City of Chicago, represented by Jenner & Block, recently achieved settlements totalling approximately $21 million in litigation involving design and construction defects relating to certain improvements at O’Hare International Airport. A Jenner & Block team, led by Partners Bill Heinz, Joe Bisceglia and Rich Steinken, along with attorneys in the City of Chicago Corporation Counsel’s office, filed suit against the general contractor, the architects/engineers and certain other consultants in 2007 to recover damages for defective design and construction relating to the City’s $285 million Façade and Circulation Enhancement construction project. All of the defendants except one have now settled, and an additional recovery on behalf of the City is expected against the remaining defendant. In addition to Bill, Joe and Rich, the firm team includes Associate Matt Riley and included several former firm associates including Justin Houppert, Michael DiNatale, Ben Wieck, and Anwar Shatat, former staff attorney Matt Weiss and paralegal Jessica Merkouris and her project assistants, including Nick Ajello.
