Jenner & Block Partner Vincent E. Lazar will be inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy on March 15, 2013, in Washington, DC.  Vince is among 39 nominees who will be honored for their professional excellence and exceptional contributions to the fields of bankruptcy and insolvency.  He joins other Jenner & Block Partners Daniel R. Murray, Ronald R. Peterson and Catherine L. Steege, who are Fellows of the College, making Jenner & Block one of only a handful of firms with four or more members.

Nominees undergo a rigorous selection process before an invitation to fellowship is extended.  Criteria include: the highest standard of professionalism; significant contributions to the community; ethics, character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership contributing to the enhancement of bankruptcy and insolvency law and practice; sustained evidence of scholarship, teaching, lecturing or writing on bankruptcy or insolvency; and commitment to elevating knowledge and understanding of the profession and public respect for the practice.

The College, which was founded in 1989, has approximately 800 Fellows, globally, including bankruptcy attorneys, insolvency accountants, turnaround and workout specialists, law professors, judges, trustees, and government officials.  Its mission is to set standards for the insolvency community, and to fund and assist projects to achieve the highest quality of bankruptcy practice, including undergraduate and graduate programs related to bankruptcy and insolvency.

Vince is co-chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy Litigation Practice and a member of the Bankruptcy, Workout and Corporate Reorganization Practice.  His experience ranges from advising debtors, committees, and trustees in high-profile bankruptcy cases to representing litigants in bankruptcy-related lawsuits and also includes successor liability counseling and litigation, and advising purchasers and sellers of distressed debt and equity.  He is consistently recognized for his bankruptcy and restructuring work by legal publications such as Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, Illinois Super Lawyers, and Legal 500.
