Jenner & Block Partners Michael T. Brody and Barry Levenstam will participate on June 1 in a seminar presented by the Chicago Bar Association and the Seventh Circuit Bar Association titled, "Appellate Practice in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals." Mr. Brody will serve as a moderator and introduce the program, which provides an overview of appellate practice in the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, including perspectives from the Clerk's office and ethical issues in appellate practice. Mr. Levenstam's session will discuss practice pointers on brief writing and oral argument in civil and criminal appeals.
Mr. Brody is a member of the Firm's Litigation Department. He is a Co-Chair of the Class Action Practice, and a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation and the Media and First Amendment Practices. As a member of the Firm’s appellate practice area, Mr. Brody has argued more than a dozen appeals in the Seventh Circuit, the Illinois Appellate Court, and the Illinois Supreme Court. He also has assisted in, or supervised, the briefing of numerous other appeals in those courts and in other federal and state appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Levenstam is a member of the Firm's Litigation Department. He is a member of the Appellate and Supreme Court Practice, the Class Action Practice, and the ERISA Litigation Practice. Mr. Levenstam has been involved as counsel for parties or amici in more than 100 appeals in the United States Supreme Court, United States Courts of Appeals across the country, the Illinois Supreme Court and appellate courts, and various other states’ appellate and supreme courts.
