Jenner & Block Partners Keri Holleb Hotaling and David M. Kroeger spoke on “Recent Developments in Commercial General Liability Coverage for Environmental Exposures,” on June 7, 2012. The session, which was part of a larger ISBA Insurance Law Section half-day CLE on Recent Developments in General Liability Insurance Law, examined the recent legal developments concerning potential environmental exposures, including the 2011 United States Supreme Court decision in American Electric Power Co., Inc. v. Connecticut, ---U.S.---, 131 S. Ct. 2527, 180 L. Ed. 2d 435 (2011), as well as the potential for coverage for those types of environmental exposures under CGL coverage forms. Recent developments in global warming tort litigation were also addressed. The program took place at the ISBA Regional Office and was also offered as a webcast.

Ms. Holleb Hotaling is a partner in the Firm’s Chicago office and a member of the Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law Practice.  She also is a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department and the Climate and Clean Technology Law Practice.  In 2010, Ms. Holleb Hotaling was recognized as one of Law360’s “Rising Legal Stars,” naming her “one of 10 environmental lawyers nationwide under the age of 40 to watch.”

Mr. Kroeger is Co-Chair of Jenner & Block’s Reinsurance Practice and a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department and Arbitration: Domestic and International, and Insurance Litigation and Counseling Practices.  For the past five consecutive years, Mr. Kroeger has been named as an Illinois Super Lawyer in the area of Insurance Coverage.  He is co-author of the treatise Directors and Officers Liability:  Prevention, Insurance and Indemnification and an updating author of the treatise Insurance Coverage Disputes.
