Jenner & Block Partner Matthew L. Jacobs will speak at a Practising Law Institute (PLI)-sponsored event titled, "Understanding Insurance Law," to be held April 6-8, 2009 at the PLI New York Center in New York City.
Mr. Jacobs will participate in an afternoon panel on April 6 titled, "Directors & Officers Liability and Errors & Omissions Coverage." In the area of Errors & Omissions Coverage, he will discuss what E&O insurance is, the definition of “damages,” coverage for “intentional acts,” defense of counterclaims, and other current topics.
Mr. Jacobs is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Litigation and Counseling and Reinsurance Practices. He is responsible for complex, multi-party insurance coverage litigation matters in state and federal courts, and he regularly advises corporations on the availability of insurance coverage for a wide variety of claims, including those related to directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, mortgage lending practices, "Chinese drywall" claims, property damage and business interruption losses, product liability, mutual fund late-trading and market timing lawsuits and regulatory investigations and environmental matters. Mr Jacobs has written extensively on issues of insurance coverage for D&O liabilities and related matters, and has spoken at over 80 conferences, and has chaired over a dozen more, both domestically and internationally in the past 20 years on various insurance coverage issues.
