Jenner & Block Partner Larry P. Ellsworth will be a panelist on a program titled “Recent Developments in Whistleblower Rules: Opportunities and Risks,” presented by the Antitrust and Consumer Protection Law Section of the D.C. Bar.  This evening program explores the opportunities and risks presented by federal agencies’ “whistleblower” programs, many of which offer monetary compensation to whistleblowers providing information leading to successful enforcement actions.  Mr. Ellsworth will address the concerns of the defense/corporate side and address both (1) defending a company in connection with a CFTC or SEC investigation or lawsuit, including advice regarding how the new whistleblower rules might affect such investigations or lawsuits and (2) advice for companies on their internal compliance and reporting programs, including what changes, if any, need to be made to those programs in light of the new rules.  The event will be held at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP,  1300 Eye Street, NW, Suite 900, Washington, D.C on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Registration is required.

Mr. Ellsworth is a partner in the Firm's Litigation Department.  He is a member of its Securities Litigation and Class Action Practices.  He is also a member of the Firm's Securities Practice and its Subprime Litigation Task Force.  Mr. Ellsworth is a former Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Trial Unit.  He is the former Chair of the D.C. Bar’s Corporation, Finance and Securities Law Section.
