Jenner & Block Chairman Anton R. Valukas will be the keynote speaker at the Eastern Michigan University (EMU) College of Business’ sixth annual Ethos Week, taking place on March 12 – March 16, 2012, on the university’s campus in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Mr. Valukas will deliver his address, titled “Ethics and the Lehman Brothers Bankruptcy,” on Friday, March 16, following a reception and luncheon in the Student Center Ballroom.
EMU’s Ethos Week is an annual week-long event whose purpose is to promote business ethics and further ethics education in the business school curriculum. The program is the first of its kind offered by any business school in the country.
Mr. Valukas, a former United States Attorney, focuses on major civil and white collar criminal defense litigation. In 2009, he was appointed Examiner in the Lehman Brothers Holdings bankruptcy, reportedly the largest such case in U.S. history. The resulting 2,200-page account, coined by the press as the “Valukas Report,” was universally applauded for its clarity and usefulness in determining what brought about the demise of Lehman Brothers, an event many commentators point to as the precipitating event triggering the global economic crisis of 2008.
