Jenner & Block Partner Matthew L. Jacobs will participate as a panelist in a teleconference on "Insurance and the Economic Crisis: Emerging Claims and Coverage Issues" on January 8, 2009. The conference is sponsored by Insurance Law & Litigation Reporter.
The conference's organizers note that directors and officers insurance claims, and errors and omissions insurance claims related to the current economic crisis are expected to reach $10 billion. Lawsuits regarding conduct that allegedly resulted in losses will continue, and legal costs will be high. Companies will look to existing policies for coverage. The teleconference will examine the current trends in terms of what claims are being filed, as well as potential claims, and will discuss the best practices for making the most out of existing policies and renegotiating policies for protection in the future.
