Partner Matthew L. Jacobs will serve as co-chair of the “Chinese Drywall Litigation Conference” an HB Litigation Conferences event to be held in Amelia Island, Florida, October 25 - 26, 2010. Conference speakers will provide an update on multidistrict litigation, and emerging litigations and jurisdictions related to Chinese drywall insurance litigation. They will address remediation protocols and when to consider settling a case. Speakers will also cover arbitration and mediation in Chinese drywall insurance litigation cases, and the ethical hurdles that attorneys may need to clear in advertising and other forms of communication.
Associate Daniel I. Weiner will speak on “Arbitration or Mediation for Chinese Drywall Insurance Coverage” at the conference. Mr. Weiner will discuss the legal issues in these cases and the best vehicle to use to resolve them. He will also discuss the timing associated with conducting either a mediation or arbitration in the course of dealing with Chinese drywall coverage issues.
Mr. Jacobs is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Litigation and Counseling and Reinsurance Practices. He regularly advises corporations on the availability of insurance coverage for a wide variety of claims, including those related to directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, mortgage lending practices, mold and water damage, business interruption losses, product liability, mutual fund late-trading and market timing lawsuits and regulatory investigations and environmental matters. Mr. Jacobs has written extensively on issues of insurance coverage for D&O liabilities and related matters, has spoken at over 100 conferences, and has chaired over a dozen more, both domestically and internationally, in the past 25 years on various insurance coverage issues.
Mr. Weiner is an associate in the Firm's Litigation Department. He is a member of the Complex Commercial Litigation Practice, the Election Law and Redistricting Practice, and the Communications Practice.
