“How Low Can the Regulators Make You Go: The Dilemma Posed by Cleanup Standards that are Lower Than "Background," DRI Webinar

Jenner & Block Partner Steven M. Siros will speak at a DRI webinar titled, “How Low Can the Regulators Make You Go: The Dilemma Posed by Cleanup Standards that are Lower Than "Background," being held on September 21, 2010.  Mr. Siros will focus on three specific contaminants: dioxin, arsenic and TCE, each of which has been the subject of recent regulatory actions to lower the applicable cleanup/screening level. Mr. Siros will provide real world examples of what happens when regulators try to force parties to clean up contaminated sites to below background and will offer practical solutions for dealing with these types of issues. Mr. Siros is the webconference chair for DRI’s Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Committee.

Mr. Siros is a member of the Firm’s Climate and Clean Technology Law, Defense & Aerospace, Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law, Insurance Litigation and Counseling, Products Liability and Mass Tort Defense, and Environmental Litigation Practices, focusing his practice on both litigation and regulatory matters.  He represents parties in complex CERCLA and RCRA matters, and regularly defends clients in toxic tort and natural resource damage matters throughout the country, including significant cases in California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New York and Wisconsin. Mr. Siros also has an extensive experience counseling policyholders in insurance coverage disputes relating to environmental issues.
