Jenner & Block Partner John R. Storino and Associate Matthew R. Devine will speak at a PwC General Counsel Forum titled “Ethical Traps for In-House Counsel – And How to Avoid Them,” that will be held on two dates in two different locations.  On Thursday, October 13, the program will be presented from 7:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. at the PwC Conference Center on the 9th Floor at 1 N. Wacker Drive, Chicago and, on Friday, October 14, the same program will be presented from 7:30 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. at Morton’s The Steakhouse, 9525 W. Bryn Mawr, Rosemont.

Mr. Storino and Mr. Devine will discuss what the latest case law on professional responsibility and the Rules of Professional Conduct mean for in-house counsel, and address best practices on various issues including discovery, compliance, and managing litigation, in light of these recent developments.

Mr. Storino is a member of the Firm’s Professional Responsibility, Real Estate and Construction Litigation and Labor and Employment Practices.  He has participated in all phases of the litigation of a variety of complex commercial matters, including construction disputes, breach of contract, attorney malpractice, civil rights litigation, election law, insurance coverage disputes, products liability and employment disputes, in both federal and state courts.  He also has successfully argued two matters before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.  In the area of professional malpractice, Mr. Storino has represented small and large law firms from around the country in litigation involving claims of malpractice, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty.  These cases have arisen from litigation matters, corporate advice, regulatory advice, and patent prosecution.

Mr. Devine is a member of the Firm’s Complex Commercial Litigation Practice.  His practice involves a broad range of complex business litigation, such as claims alleging breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duties by corporate officers and directors, fraud and securities fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, and breach of non-competition or other restrictive covenants.  Mr. Devine also frequently counsels clients faced with government investigations, and represents individuals and corporations in defending civil and criminal charges.  He recently served as one of the attorneys representing Firm Chairman Anton R. Valukas in his role as the court-appointed examiner in the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy.
