"Coverage Issues Arising from the Subprime Mortgage Litigation," LexisNexis Mealey's "Subprime Mortgage Litigation & Insurance Coverage Conference," Arlington, VA

Jenner & Block Partner Matthew L. Jacobs will serve as the co-chair, and Partner Lorelie S. Masters will be a panel moderator, at a Lexis-Nexis Mealey's conference titled "Subprime Mortgage Litigation & Insurance Coverage" at the Pentagon City Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Arlington, Virginia, on June 19-20, 2008.

Mr. Jacobs will provide the conference's opening remarks on June 19, and will address the conference's focus on the financial crises, the resulting litigation, and the insurance issues resulting from the subprime meltdown. 

Ms. Masters will moderate an afternoon panel the same day titled,  "Coverage Issues Arising from the Subprime Mortgage Litigation," which will address which policies are likely to respond to litigation claims, applicable policy definitions, exclusions to coverage, and bankruptcy and priority of payments provisions, among other topics.

Mr. Jacobs is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Litigation and Counseling and Reinsurance Practices. He is responsible for complex, multi-party insurance coverage litigation matters in state and federal courts, and he regularly advises corporations on the availability of insurance coverage for a wide variety of claims, including those related to directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, mortgage lending practices, mold and water damage, business interruption losses, product liability, mutual fund late-trading and market timing lawsuits and regulatory investigations and environmental matters.  Mr Jacobs has written extensively on issues of insurance coverage for D&O liabilities and related matters, and has spoken at over 50 conferences both domestically and internationally in the past 15 years on various insurance coverage issues.

Ms. Masters is a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department and Climate and Clean Technology Law, Insurance Litigation and Counseling and Arbitration: Domestic and International Practices. She is co-author of Insurance Coverage Litigation, an in-depth legal treatise first published in 1997 and updated annually; and Liability Insurance in International Arbitration: The Bermuda Form.  Ms. Masters is a past policyholder-side Chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee, ABA Section of Litigation, and current President of the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
