Jenner & Block Partners Steven M. Siros and Gabrielle Sigel spoke at The Seminar Group’s “Carbon Credits" event in Chicago on February 4, 2010. The seminar provided an overview of legislative and other developments in carbon management that are intended to reduce total carbon emissions and help to alleviate global warming. The event provided a historical perspective, an overview of the current carbon management environment, and a perspective on the direction that global policy makers are likely to take in the next several years.
Mr. Siros was the Co-Chair for the seminar and spoke during the 9:10am session titled, “Regional Update,” which discussed updates on regional and nationwide initiatives, as well as Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act. Mr. Siros is a member of the Firm’s Climate and Clean Technology Law, Defense & Aerospace, Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law, Insurance Litigation and Counseling, and Products Liability and Mass Tort Defense Practices.
Ms. Sigel spoke in the 10:00am session titled, “Mandatory vs. Voluntary Programs,” which discussed the structure and operation of existing and planned greenhouse gas cap-and-trade programs throughout the world. Ms. Sigel is Co-Chair of the Firm’s Climate and Clean Technology Law Practice, a founding member of the Firm’s Environmental, Energy and Natural Resources Law Practice, and a member of the Firm's Insurance Litigation and Counseling, and Products Liability and Mass Tort Defense Practices.
