Jenner & Block Partner and Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) President Joseph G. Bisceglia will participate at an ISBA CLE program titled, “Tips of the Trade: A Federal Civil Practice Seminar — 2008,” to be held May 7 at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
This program, presented by the ISBA Federal Civil Practice Section, will highlight legal advice from federal judges and attorneys on all aspects of federal civil practice. Topics that will be discussed range from initial pleading mechanisms in court and discovery, through trial practice and advocacy.
Mr. Bisceglia will moderate a panel titled, “Pleading in Federal Court.” The roundtable presentation will provide an overview of complaints, answers, motions to dismiss, jurisdiction, venue and removal/remand issues that confront attorneys practicing in federal court. The panel will also include pitfalls to avoid, procedures to follow and practices encouraged to utilize in federal court.
Mr. Bisceglia will be joined on the panel by Northern District of Illinois Court Judges, Hon. Elaine E. Bucklo, Hon. Robert W. Gettleman, Hon. Joan H. Lefkow, and Hon. Milton I. Shadur.
As ISBA president, Mr. Bisceglia will provide welcoming remarks and panelist introductions.
Mr. Bisceglia is Chair of the Firm's Construction Law Practice and a member of the Firm's Litigation Department. He has extensive experience in all facets of construction dispute resolution and litigation, as well as broad experience in a wide variety of other complex civil and criminal litigation, in both federal and state trial and appellate courts. Mr. Bisceglia has taught, lectured and published extensively in the area of construction law, civil litigation, federal and state civil practice and procedure, and trial practice.
