Jenner & Block Partner Ronald R. Peterson will speak at the DePaul University Business & Commercial Law Journal’s Sixth Annual Symposium, entitled “Lawyers, Law Firms, & the Legal Profession” to be held May 1 at the Westin Hotel.
The symposium, commonly known as “May Day,” will analyze and advise on issues regarding the law profession and ethical responsibilities, including such topics as job transitioning and alternative billing arrangements.
Mr. Peterson, a member of the Firm’s Bankruptcy, Workout and Corporate Reorganization Practice, will discuss society’s perception of the legal profession and how it conversely impacts the legal community in a panel titled, “Lawyers in the Hot Seat: The State of Ethics & Professionalism.” The panel will include discussion on the latest decisions on individual attorneys’ misbehavior, and attorneys’ collective behavior viewed in light of the standards of professionalism.
Mr. Peterson will be joined on the panel by Hon. Jeffrey P. Hopkins, United States Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of Ohio, Catherine E. Vance of Development Specialists, Inc. and Professor Mark D. Yochum, Duquesne University School of Law.
