Jenner & Block Partners Brent E. Kidwell and Andrew Weissmann will speak at the LegalTech West Coast conference to be held June 5-6 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Kidwell, the Firm’s Chief Knowledge Counsel, will serve as a panelist at a June 5 session entitled “Law Firm Information Technology: Security and Infrastructure Challenges,” which will discuss how to protect against lost laptops, backup tapes and hard drives; how to combat keyloggers, spyware and other data espionage; how to secure remote access to the law firm network; and what to do with departing employees’ data, among other things.

Mr. Weissmann, formerly the U.S. Department of Justice's Enron Task Force Director, will lecture with Beryl Howell, U.S. Sentencing Commissioner, at a June 5 session entitled “The Science of Compliance or How to Stay Out of the SOX Box: Using Forensics to Close the Gap Between Policy and Practice.”  Topics will include the emerging civil and criminal liability standards against which compliance programs will be judged, and how to use forensics to audit data retention policies, authenticate the data underlying compliance, manage the risk of outsourcing data retention, and investigate mass deletions and wiping of data.
