"Subprime," Practising Law Institute, Insurance Coverage 2008: Claim Trends & Litigation, Chicago, IL

Jenner & Block Partner Patricia A. Bronte will serve as co-chair and Partner Matthew L. Jacobs will speak at a Practising Law Institute Seminar titled, "Insurance Coverage 2008: Claim Trends & Litigation," to be held May 19-20 at the University of Chicago Gleacher Center in Chicago, Illinois.  The program will provide attendees with information about current developments affecting commercial general liability, property and professional liability insurance.

Ms. Bronte will provide opening remarks for the program and will also speak at a session titled, “Key Developments: Ethics and the Tripartite Relationship,” which will discuss privilege issues, confidentiality, and the ethical duties of defense counsel paid by the insurer. 

Mr. Jacobs will speak at a session titled, “Subprime,” which will discuss topics including sources of liability, mortgage bankers bonds, mortgage bankers professional liability and mortgage insurance.

Ms. Bronte is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Litigation and Counseling, and Reinsurance Practices.  She concentrates her practice in complex litigation matters, representing businesses in insurance, reinsurance, and other disputes.  In addition to representing policyholders in coverage litigation, Ms. Bronte has provided ongoing advice and counseling to policyholders in a variety of industries such as information technology, manufacturing, and defense contracting.  She is a frequent speaker on insurance coverage, trial practice, and the Guantanamo litigation.

Mr. Jacobs is a member of the Firm’s Insurance Litigation and Counseling and Reinsurance Practices. He is responsible for complex, multi-party insurance coverage litigation matters in state and federal courts, and he regularly advises corporations on the availability of insurance coverage for a wide variety of claims, including those related to directors and officers liability, errors and omissions, mortgage lending practices, mold and water damage, business interruption losses, product liability, mutual fund late-trading and market timing lawsuits and regulatory investigations and environmental matters.  Mr. Jacobs has written extensively on issues of insurance coverage for D&O liabilities and related matters, and has spoken at over 50 conferences both domestically and internationally in the past 20 years on various insurance coverage issues.
