Jenner & Block Partner Andrew Weissmann will be a keynote speaker at the Third International Conference on Teaching Applied and Professional Ethics in Higher Education, to be held July 1-3, 2008 at Kingston University in Kingston upon Thames, UK.  The event, titled, “Real World, Real People,” is hosted by the Centre for Applied and Professional Ethics (CAPE) and the Professional Associations Research Network (PARN).

The international, interdisciplinary and inter-professional conference aims to bring academics and professionals together to identify ethical issues that arise in business and professional practice and examine how higher education institutions should teach and practice professional ethics to secure and maintain the well-being of clients, employers and the general public.

Mr. Weissmann, who is the former Enron Task Force Director and former Chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, was recently was selected by a panel of top ethics experts as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics by Ethisphere magazine.  An internationally-recognized white collar litigator, Mr. Weissmann’s practice concentrates on internal corporate compliance and investigations, including representation before the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and state and local authorities.

CAPE is a charitable company whose aim is to enhance the quality of higher education through the study, research and promotion of ethics and also through the promotion of harmony between people of different faiths and beliefs.  PARN is a fast growing UK based nonprofit organization providing a research-enriched network for professional associations and regulatory bodies.
