Jenner & Block Partner Andrew Weissmann will speak at The Chatham House City Series’ “The Lengthening Arm of Criminal Law: Criminalization of Corporate Conduct,” to be held November 30 at the offices of Clifford Chance in London.

The conference will focus on the attempts being made on both sides of the Atlantic to resolve the challenges posed by the current rise in the criminalization of corporate conduct. It will examine issues such as the ramifications of the increasing prevalence of corporate crime on corporations; the repercussions on the U.S. for its perceived “heavy-handedness” in this area and the limits of extraterritorial application of U.S. criminal law.

The conference will bring together influential policymakers, business leaders and legal professionals from both sides of the Atlantic to discuss the approaches being taken by the respective governments to achieve a unified approach to this international issue.

Mr. Weissmann is the former Enron Task Force Director and former Chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.  His practice concentrates on internal corporate compliance and investigations, including representation before the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and state and local authorities.
