Jenner & Block Partner Andrew Weissmann will participate in the Ethics & Compliance Officer Association’s Corporate Ethics Forum to be held September 26-28 in Los Angeles.

The conference will feature ethics and compliance leaders from corporations, government agencies, and academic institutions around the world addressing current and emerging ethical challenges in organizations today.

Mr. Weissmann will participate in two panels.  The first will discuss an ECOA project that is underway to create industry-wide ethics and compliance guidelines.  Jenner & Block is counsel to that project.  The second panel is a mock trial session that will invite the audience to weigh in on issues regarding the source of corporate corruption and moral failure, as revealed at trial. The session will address the question: do individuals corrupt the system, or does the system corrupt individuals?  Mr. Weissmann is the featured prosecutor in the mock trial.

This event is the largest conference of ethics and compliance practitioners, with 700 attendees expected. Representatives from every industry sector, including retail, manufacturing, energy, technology, services, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, utilities, and major financial institutions, as well as government agencies, government sponsored enterprises, municipalities, nonprofits and academic institutions will be on hand.

Mr. Weissmann is the former Enron Task Force Director and former Chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.  His practice concentrates on internal corporate compliance and investigations, including representation before the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and state and local authorities.
