Jenner & Block Partner Andrew Weissmann will speak at the Ethics & Compliance Officer Association (ECOA) 2008 Annual Business Ethics & Compliance Conference, “Righting the Balance: The Integration of Ethics and Compliance,” that will take place September 24-26 in Orlando, Florida. The conference offers a comprehensive business ethics, compliance, and corporate governance experience with the opportunity to acquire practical as well as theoretical knowledge, collaborate with peers, and contribute to the growing ethics and compliance community.

Mr. Weissmann will speak at a Wednesday, September 24 session titled, “The Ethics & Compliance Handbook: An Analysis in Relation to the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.” The Honorable Ruben Castillo, head of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, will also be speaking at the session. Mr. Weissmann and Associate Matthew W. Alsdorf took a leadership role in originating, writing, and editing the handbook, which was recently published by the ECOA. The first-of-its-kind book is a practical guide to the implementation of organizational ethics and compliance programs, and was written over a period of eighteen months by leaders in ethics and compliance field from a wide variety of major companies and other organizations.

Mr. Weissmann, the former Enron Task Force Director and former Chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, was recently selected by a panel of top ethics experts as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics by Ethisphere magazine. An internationally-recognized white collar litigator, Mr. Weissmann’s practice concentrates on internal corporate compliance and investigations, including representation before the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and state and local authorities.
