Jenner & Block Partner Andrew Weissmann will speak at the 2007 Northern District of California Judicial Conference hosted by the Judicial Conference for the 9th Circuit to be held May 4-6 in Santa Cruz, CA.

Mr. Weissmann will serve as a panelist on May 5 at a session entitled, "Is the Department of Justice Really That Short-Staffed? The Benefits and Perils of Deputizing Law Firms to Act as Government Investigators," that will discuss the perils and benefits of the current DOJ practice of deputizing corporations' outside counsel to perform internal investigations of alleged misfeasance.

Mr. Weissmann is the former Enron Task Force Director and former Chief of the Criminal Division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.  His practice concentrates on internal corporate compliance and investigations, including representation before the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission and state and local authorities.
