Jenner & Block Partner Carter H. Klein recently spoke at the Institute of International Banking Law and Practice’s (IIBLP) Annual Survey of Letter of Credit Law and Practice, held on February 22-23 at the Bankers Club in Miami, Florida. Drawing more than 50 letter of credit professionals from banks, law firms, corporations and universities throughout the world, the 2007 Annual Survey provided a global forum for the exchange of practical information and views on letters of credit.
Mr. Klein participated on three panels at the Annual Survey: “Standby Letter of Credit Issues;” “Troublesome Trends in Standby Letters of Credit;” and “Recent Letter of Credit Case Law Developments.”
A member of the Firm’s Corporate, Commercial Law and Uniform Commercial Code, and Corporate Finance Practices, Mr. Klein has developed extensive experience with Article 5 of the Uniform Commercial Code – Letters of Credit. He participated in the drafting process for that article and in the drafting of the International Standby Practices 1998, and served as Chair of the Letter of Credit Subcommittee of the ABA’s UCC Committee, and is a member of the editorial advisory board of Documentary Credit World, which is published by IIBLP.
