In this roundtable discussion, the Honorable Jeri K. Somers (Ret.) and Director of Diversity and Inclusion Courtney Carter will co-moderate the panel during day two of the Women, Influence & Power in Law three-day conference. Panelists will discuss how to balance the perceived need for in-person work, the impact of vaccine requirements as mandated by the federal government, and the issues raised when differing school quarantine requirements upend childcare plans for employees.

Ms. Somers is a partner in the firm’s Government Contracts Practice and former chair of the US Civilian Board of Contract Appeals. During her time as chair, Judge Somers addressed many of the same workplace issues arising from the pandemic. She also has deep experience hearing and deciding contract disputes between government contractors and civilian federal government agencies under the Contract Disputes Act.

Ms. Carter leads Jenner & Block’s efforts to recruit, retain, develop, and advance diverse lawyers. She works closely with the firm’s Chief Talent Officer and Recruiting department to develop a holistic approach to talent management and development that specifically considers and implements programs for the firm’s diverse lawyers.
