Jenner & Block Partner Neil M. Barofsky spoke on a panel at the Anti-Corruption and Compliance Summit 2020 in Berlin. The wide-ranging discussion touched on many topics, among them: the fundamental requirements from the DOJ and the SEC for a compliance program; the impact that the upcoming election and other changes in the US administration could have for US enforcement; and, on the financial services side, any major changes depending on the outcome of the election. Mr. Barofsky was joined by former FBI Director Louis Freeh, who now serves as monitor for Wal-Mart.

Mr. Barofsky was an Assistant United States Attorney of the Southern District of New York before being nominated by President George W. Bush in 2008 to oversee the $700 billion bailout program the United States put in place following the financial crisis. In that position, he also served under President Obama. Mr. Barofsky currently serves as the US Department of Justice’s monitor for Credit Suisse.
