Truth without Proof?: The Process of Getting Distributed Ledger (Blockchain) Entries Into Evidence

Jenner & Block Partner Justin C. Steffen will participate in a live demonstration of how legal practitioners can navigate the rules of evidence with respect to blockchain ledger entries and crypto-assets.  Presented by the Chicago Bar Association Financial and Emerging Technologies Committee, FinTEx, and the Loyola University School of Law, this mock exercise will highlight the nuances of blockchain technology, the obstacles to introducing blockchain- and crypto-based evidence, and help practitioners understand how existing legal rules can be utilized to overcome those challenges.

Mr. Steffen is a member of Jenner & Block’s Complex Commercial Litigation Practice and the firm’s FinTech Industry Group.  He routinely represents clients in large, “bet-the-company” litigation, internal investigations, and assists online lenders, payment processors and blockchain/cryptocurrency companies in navigating the evolving regulatory and legal environment.
