Jenner & Block Partner Alison I. Stein will speak during the biennial Media Law Conference, a substantive forum for experienced media defense lawyers. The conference focuses on the practical aspects of media law and litigation, with a mix of plenary, break-out, and boutique sessions on a wide variety of topics. Ms. Stein will co-moderate a panel on recent developments in copyright law with Aretae Wyler, General Counsel of Atlantic Media. Their presentation, which was created with the help of Associate Tali R. Leinwand, will focus on the right of publicity, copyright issues involving embedded links, fair use, and other issues related to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Ms. Stein, an intellectual property litigator in the firm's Content, Media and Entertainment Practice, focuses on matters involving entertainment litigation, content protection, copyright infringement, copyright terminations, trademark enforcement, trade secrets, unfair competition, defamation, licensing negotiations and contractual disputes. She represents a wide range of companies and individuals, including record labels, media organizations, publishing companies, performing rights organizations, television companies, fashion companies, technology companies, financial organizations, authors and individual artists.
Ms. Leinwand is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department. Previously, she was the First Amendment Fellow at the New York Times Company, where she litigated public records, access, reporter’s privilege, and copyright cases on behalf of the publication in federal and state court; counseled reporters and editors on newsgathering issues; and provided prepublication review.
