“Redistricting: School’s In Session,” National Conference of State Legislatures 2018 Legislative Summit

Jenner & Block Partner Jessie Ring Amunson spoke at the National Conference of State Legislature’s 2018 Legislative Summit.  Ms. Amunson delivered a presentation on the basic principles of redistricting law and how those principles have changed since the last round of redistricting.  Ms. Amunson discussed issues surrounding the one-person-one vote doctrine, as well as racial and political gerrymandering.  More than 100 state legislators and staff attended the session held on July 31, 2018, in Los Angeles.

Ms. Amunson is co-chair of Jenner & Block’s Appellate and Supreme Court Practice and chair of the firm’s Election Law and Redistricting Practice.  As chair, she represents clients, including elected officials, in matters involving redistricting, voting rights, and campaign finance in the US Supreme Court, before the Federal Elections Commission and in courts around the country.
