Partner Jessica Ring Amunson spoke about her representation of pro bono client Jesse Webster during a CLE program that focused on the role that clemency plays in the criminal justice system.  She recounted the story of how the firm and Catholic Charities worked together to assist Mr. Webster, who served 21 years in prison for a non-violent drug crime due to mandatory sentencing guidelines at the time.  In January 2017, President Obama commuted his sentence.  Upon Mr. Webster’s release and return to Chicago, Catholic Charities offered him a job.  The program was held on June 6, 2018, at the firm’s Chicago office.  Please click here to learn more about the case.
