"Investment Arbitration: Lessons Learned from Financial Crisis" 4th Annual GAR Live BITs Conference, Washington D.C.

Jenner & Block Partner Patrick W. Pearsall will moderate at the 4th Annual GAR Live BITs Conference on May 17 in Washington, DC.  In the first session titled “The End-Game,” panelists will use Argentina as a starting point in asking what is the end-game where bilateral investment treaty (BIT) claims are part of a country-wide crisis.  Other topics panelists are expected to discuss include the overlap among national courts, arbitral tribunals and regulatory measures to create pressure on a sovereign, viable defenses to claims against sovereigns and claims against state-owned enterprises and sovereign debt in the context of investment treaty claims, among other related topics.

Mr. Pearsall is chair of the firm’s Public International Law Practice and a member of the International Arbitration, Government Controversies and Public Policy Litigation, and Energy Practices.  He is a former chief of investment arbitration at the US State Department.
