“Gerrymandering and the Future of Partisan Redistricting,” Civil Rights Law Journal Spring 2018 Symposium

Jenner & Block Partner Jessica Ring Amunson spoke about two high-profile redistricting cases pending before the US Supreme Court.  Both cases -- Gill v. Whitford and Benisek v. Lamone –deal with partisan gerrymandering.  The Court’s rulings on them have the potential to reshape the distribution of political power in the country.  Ms. Amunson and other panelists shared insight on current gerrymandering law and potential implications of the Court’s decisions.  The event was held on March 29, 2018, at the Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University in Arlington, VA.

Ms. Amunson is chair of the firm’s Election Law and Redistricting Practice and a co-chair of the Appellate and Supreme Court Practice.  For Gill, she served as co-counsel with the Campaign Legal Center and sat second chair when oral arguments were made before the US Supreme Court in October.
