“Arbitrating AANS Disputes,” AAA–ICDR’s Conference on Arbitrating Aerospace, Aviation and National Security Disputes
On April 26, 2018, Partner Richard F. Ziegler will moderate a panel in Washington, DC at a conference hosted by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and its international division, the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) about arbitrating disputes involving aerospace, aviation and national security issues (“AANS”). Titled “Arbitrating AANS (Aviation, Aerospace and National Security) Disputes,” Mr. Ziegler and the other panelists (Stephen Smith, formerly at Lockheed Martin, Rachael Kent at WilmerHale and Frances Bivens at Davis, Polk) will discuss the suitability of arbitration for use in AANS disputes. Topics covered will include: confidentiality; dealing with classified information; discovery; choice of forum; enforceability; and implications for clause drafting. The session will take place from 8:45 – 9:45 am ET at Fried Frank‘s office at 801 17th Street NW.
Mr. Ziegler is a senior litigation partner and co-chair of the firm’s International Arbitration Practice. A former general counsel of the 3M Company, former federal prosecutor and an active arbitrator, mediator, civil litigator and counselor, he focuses his practice on international arbitration and complex commercial litigation. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and is a charter member of the AAA-ICDR’s newly-formed roster of arbitrators for AANS disputes.
