“The Patent Litigation Landscape in the Wake of TC Heartland & Cray,” IP Watchdog

Jenner & Block Partner Bradford P. Lyerla participated in a virtual roundtable discussion on “The Patent Litigation Landscape in the Wake of TC Heartland &Cray.” He was joined by other leading patent lawyers who explored the effect of the recent patent venue decision in In re Cray, which “overturns one of the earliest patent venue decisions from a district court post TC Heartland.” The roundtable was hosted by IP Watchdog, which also published the transcript of the discussion. When asked if he believed the bulk of patent cases would now be filed in the Northern District of California, Mr. Lyerla suggested that Delaware is the most likely district to benefit. “I’m not expecting a large influx of patent cases in the Northern District as a result of the TC Heartland/Cray cases,” he said.
