Jenner & Block Partners Gabriel A. Fuentes and Jolene E. Negre presented at the Hispanic National Bar Association’s 2017 Annual Convention from September 6-9 in Kansas City.
On Thursday, September 7, from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., Mr. Fuentes co-presented on the panel “Stand up, Fight Back! Advocating for Vulnerable Immigrant Populations Through Community Lawyering Under a Trump Administration." The workshop provided an overview of Trump’s Immigration Executive Orders and discussed "principles of movement and community lawyering that can be adopted by all practitioners to support advocacy efforts in their communities and across the nation to protect immigrant communities." Mr. Fuentes is a litigation partner at Jenner & Block, a former Assistant US Attorney, and the 2015 HNBA Latino Pro Bono Lawyer of the Year. His pro bono practice has included representation of individual immigrants and plaintiffs in immigration-related impact litigation.
Ms. Negre is a panelist for the program “Overview of Start-Up Accelerators and Incubators and Top Legal Issues Facing Start-Ups” on Friday, September 8, from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. This panel will provide an overview of the role of accelerators and incubators as well as explore the numerous legal questions facing new companies, including business formation, privacy, employment, tax, intellectual property and funding issues, among others. Ms. Negre, whose practice includes counseling start-up and early stage businesses, will address formation and governance choices, funding options and other considerations for young companies.
