“Keeping Our Balance – Regulation, Enforcement and Economic Growth,” 35th International Symposium on Economic Crime

Jenner & Block Partner Thomas C. Newkirk will speak at the 35th International Symposium on Economic Crime, being held at the University of Cambridge.  The title of Mr. Newkirk’s speech is “Keeping Our Balance – Regulation, Enforcement and Economic Growth.”  Mr. Newkirk’s speech will be on September 5.  The Symposium strives to offer a rich and deep analysis of issues and threats to our institutions and economies presented by economically motivated crime and misconduct.  More than 600 leading practitioners from around the world will share their experience and knowledge with other participants drawn from policy-makers, law enforcement, compliance, regulation, business and the professions.

Mr. Newkirk is co-chair of the firm’s Securities Litigation and Enforcement Practice and a member of the Securities Practice and Japan Practice.   Drawing on his 19 years of experience as a senior official with the SEC before joining Jenner & Block, he represents companies and their leaders in confidential SEC investigations related to such issues as accounting, disclosure, insider trading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and related litigation.
