The two-day conference will host interactive discussions on the potential impacts of federal energy and environmental policy shifts, how states in the southwest region are reacting and changes expected at federal energy and environmental agencies. The conference will also explore the future for natural gas and coal-fired power plants; climate change and carbon reduction initiatives at the state and federal levels; the prospects for PURPA reform and independent power producers; and updates on renewable energy, retail customer choice of suppliers and the latest technological developments.
Ms. Kelly will participate in a panel discussion titled “Anticipating the Overall Impact Policy Uncertainty and Changes on Electric and Natural Gas Markets and Market Structures.” Mr. Minzner is joining a panel discussion on “Federal Energy and Environmental Policy: New Players and Anticipated Changes Under the Trump Administration.”
Ms. Kelly is co-chair of the Energy Practice. Her experience in national electric and natural gas industries includes significant experience in infrastructure development and operation; market structures and financial products; emerging technologies; federal and state laws and regulations; impending policy changes; and domestic/international market interrelations.
Mr. Minzner is a partner in the Energy Practice. He advises clients on regulation of the wholesale energy markets and previously served as general counsel at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where he oversaw the legal aspects of all of the agency’s work, including matters involving electricity, natural gas and oil.
Ms. Kelly and Mr. Minzner’s sessions will both be held on August 21, 2017, the first day of the conference at La Fonda Santa Fe Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
