June 29, 2017

On 29 June 2017, Jenner & Block Partner Peter B. Pope spoke at the annual C5 International Conference on Anti-Corruption – London Edition. This two-day conference explored a range of topics from whistleblowing to enforcement trends and multi-jurisdictional settlements.  Mr. Pope moderated the “International Foreign Bribery Taskforce” panel, a town hall discussing how global cases are being investigated. The panellists were James Mitra (UK National Crime Agency), George “Ren” McEachern (FBI), and Agent Jason McArthur (Australian Federal Police).  The agents discussed the types of proactive investigative techniques increasingly being used in international corruption investigations and how law enforcement agencies from different countries are now working closely together to build stronger cases in shorter time frames.  Conference attendees included in-house compliance managers and legal counsel from local and international businesses, including Google, African Development Bank, Lexis Nexis and EY as well as private practice lawyers.

Mr. Pope is co-chair of the firm’s Investigations, Compliance and Defense Practice and a partner in the firm’s London office.   He has represented individuals and entities as defendants, targets, subjects or witnesses in criminal and regulatory investigations and proceedings, and has conducted internal investigations around the world.
