Partner Gina Reif Ilardi discussed social media promotions and campaigns at a CLE presentation on June 15, 2017. The program provided an overview of how to structure social media promotions, advising in-house counsel on best practices when activating a social media contest or sweepstakes and alerting them to potential issues that may arise if their campaign is not structured correctly. Topics covered included the current and changing laws governing promotions, the various social media platforms’ policies, potential issues that could arise through the use of third party applications, and the Federal Trade Commission’s rules pertaining to product endorsement. The session was part of a day-long series of presentations titled “In-House Toolkit: The Nuts and Bolts,” hosted by the Association of Corporate Counsel of New York City.
Ms. Ilardi is a partner in the Content, Media & Entertainment Practice. She counsels motion picture and television studios, major brands, prominent website operators, cable, broadcast and out-of-home networks and advertising and marketing agencies. Ms. Ilardi also advises clients on the collection, storage, sharing (including cross-border sharing and transfer) and use of personal information and other data.
