Jenner & Block Partner Louis E. Fogel presented at the Practising Law Institute’s (PLI) three-day Patent Fundamentals Bootcamp from May 9 to May 11, 2017. Mr. Fogel is a PLI faculty member and led a course titled “An Introduction to Patent Drafting, Prosecution and Litigation.” The program’s target audience was patent attorneys, patent agents, technical advisors and patent liaisons with little to no experience in patent prosecution. The program featured lectures each morning followed by small clinic sessions in the afternoon. Both the lecture sessions and the clinics were designed to follow the patent application process: from invention disclosure and patent preparation (day 1), through prosecution, issuance and beyond (day 2) to litigation/claim analysis (day 3). While Mr. Fogel participated in the Chicago session, PLI is also hosting the bootcamp in Los Angeles and New York later this summer.
As co-chair of the Life Science's subgroup of the firm's Patent Litigation and Counseling Practice, Mr. Fogel's practice involves all phases of complex patent litigation and counseling, from pre-trial investigation and strategy development through appeal.
